Potassium regulates the contents of the liquids in the organism and supports the functioning of the muscles and the nervous cells. A loss of potassium therefore reduces neuromuscular functions, but also the capacity of little premuscular arteries to expand themselves adequately, and subsequently provoking muscular hypoxia and the start of a ‘tying up’.

Sodium is an indispensable mineral for the regular functioning of the nervous, muscular, circular and lymphatic system. Together with potassium it regulates the osmotic pressure and the basic acid balance of the cell. Sodium is therefore fundamental to avoid weakening and fatigue of the muscles.
