ASCORBATE -MASTER C is the formulation that is indicated as a valid support for horses in case of problems caused by the presence of oxidizing agents. When the organism is exposed to the action of oxidizing agents, from outside or inside the organism, oxidative stress may be caused, with a consequent alteration in the balance between oxidant and antioxidant substances. Vitamin C, which carries out a natural antioxidant action, is important to avoid damages provoked by an excessive production of free radicals in the lungs (Deaton CM et al., Equine Vet J.Suppl. 2002). Besides having its own antioxidant function, vitamin C is able to regenerate or recycle other components of the antioxidant
system, specially vitamin E. Administration of vitamin C to horses is influenced by the quantity and the available form.

WHEN TO USE:

   - Chronic respiratory problems RAO (recurrent airway obstruction) Lower levels of vitamin C were found in the pulmonary epithelial lining fluid COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
   - Use of calcium ascorbate for horses affected with chronic obstructive pneumonia is useful in case of:
        - Exercise and training
        - Periods of recovery after stress
        - Stress
        - Joint problems
